Sports Trainer
Job Title: Sports Trainer – Football Club (Contract)
Location: Bunya, QLD 4055
Start Date: Early December
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and qualified Sports Trainer to join our team for the upcoming football (soccer) season. This role involves providing essential support for athlete health and injury management for one of the Men’s teams at a local football club. You will be required to attend training sessions twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and provide assistance for two back-to-back games each weekend during the season.
Our principal physiotherapist, Matt, looks after 2 teams at the club and will offer support and hands-on training in injury management and taping. This is a contract role with an hourly rate plus superannuation, negotiable based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide injury prevention, management, and first aid care to athletes during training sessions and games within scope of practice.
- Conduct training and pre-game strapping and taping as required.
- Monitor player conditions throughout games to ensure player safety and optimal performance.
- Provide on-field injury management for 2 games on scheduled weekends (games can be Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday).
- Work closely with our physiotherapists on injury management protocols and player recovery.
- Ensure sports/medical equipment is stocked, organized, and on-site at training sessions and games.
- Maintain accurate records of player injuries, treatments provided and consumables used in performing your role.
Requirements:
- SMA Sports Trainer Level 1 certification, or equivalent (or willingness to obtain this qualification and insurance before starting)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to training sessions and games
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work evenings and weekends in line with the training and game schedule
Desirable:
- Previous experience working as a Sports Trainer or similar role in sports/athletic environments
- Strong knowledge of injury prevention, basic rehabilitation exercises, and sports taping techniques
What we will provide you:
- On-site and remote support across your duties.
- Ongoing training in relation to injury management, taping techniques and other modalities to enhance injury prevention and management.
- Hourly rate + super, paid weekly.
- All equipment supplied and restocked as required.
Location: Training is held in Bunya, QLD 4055. Games are pre-scheduled across the greater Brisbane area at the beginning of the season to facilitate planning.
